  ARC
The Australian Respiratory Council is a charity organisation supporting prevention, treatment and research into respiratory disease at a national and international level.
ARC's mission is to develop and support innovative and effective approaches to research and development in lung health and to improve lung health in communities, with emphasis on disadvantaged groups.

ARC funds Aboriginal tobacco control project in NSW

When ARC called for expressions of interest to develop and implement a pilot project aimed at improving respiratory health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, nineteen applications were received. After a rigourous process, four applications were short-listed and invited to develop a full proposal. These were all worthy proposals and it was a difficult task to rank them.

ARC is now pleased to announce that the Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council of NSW has been awarded an ARC grant of $490,200 for the project 'Randomised controlled trial of using a dedicated tobacco control worker and a co-ordinated approach to enhance tobacco control and smoking cessation activities in Aboriginal communities in NSW'.
